Match Report - Rothwell Corinthians Res

Match Report

Kettering Town Ladies Development were knocked out on penalties by Northamptonshire Women's & Girls League 2 side Rothwell Corinthians Reserves after a dramatic afternoon of Northants FA Women's Cup football at Wellingborough Old Grammians.

Corinthians slammed home the winning penalty in the shoot-out after Sophie Gould and Sienna McNeil had earlier seen their efforts from the spot saved.

A beautifully curled effort gave the home side the lead of the First Round tie midway into the first period but fine strike from Gould in the second half levelled things up for Craig Turnbull's young Poppiessess.

Gould hit the post in the second period before Kettering looked set to win it in normal time when Captain, Erin McNamara, crashed a free-kick against the bar with only five minutes to go.
