Match Report - Yaxley
Match Report
Kettering Town U-21 Development side won comfortably 3-0 at Latimer Park, thanks to goals from Tobi Shoyoye, Darron Harmon and Alessio Mastrangelo.
The Poppies, for the first half, were near enough dominant as they were able to capitalise on poor defending as Shoyoye was able to just about poke in the rebound on 9 minutes. The young Poppies didn’t let the pressure down as they continued to press well.
The constant pressure finally came off as on the 23rd minute, Harmon was able to score from a corner after a messy scramble led to a goal. Mastrangelo’s strike was enough to put Kettering 3-0 up at halftime.
The halftime score would have been closer if it wasn’t for two goal line clearances from the young Poppies, that potentially could of switched momentum.
Again, Kettering were able to control the game well throughout the second half as Yaxley couldn’t really pounce on the little chances they had.
Although the hosts were on top throughout the half, they couldn’t find a goal to increase their lead so overall it was a very positive day for Jim Freeman's side, who can take a lot away from the game.
