It was a useful work out for the squad who only returned to full training last Thursday.

The team starting the game was:
Billy Johnson,
Harry Reilly, Kelvin Langmead, Lewis White, Rhys Sharpe;
Andrew Ofosu, Charlie Barker, Gary Stohrer, Luca Miller;
Sam Bennett, Tyrone Lewthwaite.

Second half substitutes included Academy player Josh Drain,who gave a good account of himself.

The game was competitive throughout and in addition to the goals, Tyrone Lewthwaite saw his early effort cleared off the line and Sam Bennett’s low drive was saved a few minutes later.Lewthwaite had a good chance meeting a low cross from the right which fell just wide.

It was a very wet night throughout and keeper,Billy Johnson made a couple of decent saves in the second half as the ball skidded off the turf and shots for Kettering from Luca Miller and Josh Drain drifted wide.

The attendance was 171 with around 50 from Kettering and our thanks go to Newport for hosting the game.

The next friendly is at Bedford Town on Saturday 15th July at 3pm.
