It was great to see former Poppy loanee Callum Wilson make his World Cup debut and superb assist for Jack Grealish to tap in a goal, during England's 6-2 win over Iran.

Callum is the first Poppy to play in the World Cup after leaving the club while two others did so prior to their time with Kettering - Don Masson and Kelvin Jack.  Two others - Eddie McGoldrick and Dave Watson, made the world cup squads but didn't play.

Callum made 18 appearances for the Poppies having signed on loan from Coventry City in January 2011.  He scored 1 goal in the 4-3 thriller at Rockingham Road against Histon.  His debut came against Cawley Town.   On leaving the club he went back to the Sky Blues, later playing for Bournemouth where he became the first ex-Poppy to score a hat-trick in the Premiership.

He recently said..

"I've played in non-league , on loan at Kettering Town, I've had two ACL injuries... so there have been ups and downs. But to get to where you want to be in life, its never a straight road. (Chronicle Live).
